Cards for My Boys

My 2 grandsons, Nicholas and Danny love to get cards -- but even more so, Nick loves cats; and Danny dogs.  For Christmas I had given Nick a cat card -- which Danny wanted -- in order to make sure that no one's card got destroyed, Megan (my daughter) asked me to make Danny a dog card --I figured I'd make them each a card so there'd be no fights!  On the one hand I'm glad I can send the boys cards; on the other since they live 6 hours away, we don't get to see Meg and her sons as often as we'd like.  From Megan's perspective we're probably there often enough, but there you have it!

Valentines 2013 - A series of 7

I always make Valentines for my 4 grandchildren (who are cute and smart, etc.) and my husband of course; and my next door neighbour's granddaughter (who is also my friend now and comes and does crafts with me when she's here for a visit - she's 5); and another friend's daughter.  I always loved (and still do) getting mail and know the kids love it as well.  Kiera always calls and says thank you (my little friend) and that's very nice.  My grandson Nick loves cats - so I always try and incorporate a cat (or 2) into his image; and his brother Danny loves dogs (so he gets a dog)...Emily and Katie, my granddaughters have never expressed a preference either way (although Katie's only 18 months) so I pick images that remind me of them.  And, as always for the kids cards I have concealed a twonie (2 dollar coin) under the little heart.  All the images are digital by the brilliant Mo Manning; Embossing Folder by SU: Heart Die by Spellbinder; Colour by Copic.  There are 7 cards -- hope you like them!

Golfing House Mouse - for John

My husband John is a wonderful man -- annoying sometimes like all husbands, but wonderful nonetheless!  He is an avid golfer and he also loves the House Mouse images -- what could be more perfect?  I pretty much copied the colour scheme off of the picture on the stamp block and added some clouds to fill in the picture.  I'd like to take credit for lovely clouds, but I can't -- I used an SU template, which for some reason they no longer sell!  John loved his card -- which came to him complete with a new putter!

House Mouse - Balloons

I have long been a House Mouse fan -- and this little image is so beautiful.  The balloons also give you the opportunity to go nuts colouring different colours and practice shading!  My friend who got this card has her birthday on the same day as my husband, so I never forget her birthday.  She has often commented how she appreciated receiving a card every year on her birthday from me, so god forbid I stop!

Another Oddly Sweet Curiosity Card

Obviously I was on a bit of a roll with these SCACD Oddly Sweet Curiosities Stamps -- this one is for my friend and next door neighbour - who is a Pisces (hence the fishy looking guy) and I think there are a few men she'd love to make dance on a string -- Plus I love the image.  I tried to make it look sort of water-like; and have been experimenting with the dotted background --- all I can say is it's coming along!

Meredith Dillman - Cased Card!

I recently purchased the new Level 3 Copic Coloring Guide by Colleen Schaan and Marianne Walker.  As I was browsing through it I came upon a card by Colleen (on page 45) that blew my socks off!  The image was beautiful -- the colouring out-of-this-world; the layout gorgeous, in short I loved it.  So..I found and ordered the stamp and set about making a card.  But let's face it, how can you improve on perfection.  So, I cased the whole thing!  My DP is different and I didn't use a fancy bead on it -- and I goofed up the colouring a bit - but on the whole I'm very happy with it.  And figure since I've given Colleen all the credit, it's okay!

Wine and Cheese

I am really not sure how I feel about this card --- I made it for my boss for his birthday.  He loves wine, cheese and grapes; hence the image -- this is a very old stamp from Inkadinkadoo -- and while I like the image, I'm not sure I did it justice!  Oh well.  Sometimes I must confess that I'm not feeling all that inspired when I make cards - especially when I have a lot to make.  For instance, for the month of February this year (2013) I had 25 cards to make -- and since I'm highly neurotic and try to make each one different, it is somewhat of a strain sometimes --- strange because I still find cardmaking relaxing!
